Meeting with the representative of the Secretary-General on sexual violence

on 28/9/2018, Maj. Gen. Maher al-Taie/Deputy Minister of Interior met with Ms. Pramila Patten/Special Representative of the Secretary-General on sexual violence in conflict, in the presence of counselor, Firas Hassan, Counselor Ammar al-Khalidi and the Expert group of the Office of the Special Representative.

During the meeting, views were exchanged on the implementation of the terms of the joint statement signed between Iraq and the United Nations on 23 September 2016 and its launch after the visit of Ms. Patten to Iraq earlier this year. Ms. Patten thanked the Iraqi side for its continued cooperation with its office in order to bring violators to the Iraqi judiciary and redress victims of sexual violence.
